Camera is not cooperating too well, so just picture a 5'3' ? (eric) on a 36er! Well this guy shows up to the ride with a waltworks 36er and those wheels are f'in huge. I rode it for a short bit at the top of shinglemill and descended some and one thing it does is roll and roll! When driving a semi- one will use a jake brake going downhill essentially to use the engine to slow the rig! I was looking for the jake brake on this bike! Then got back on my squirelly 69er and it felt strange and small! But after a short bit was back to the feel of the 29er up front and standing and climbing away. Felt bad as a first timer was a ahead of me after i stopped to grab some photographic evidence. He was doin fine and the next thing i know he was slipping out on a corner and went down. I grabbed the brakes and avoided him. I was following a bit too close.
was a strong group and pace was doing real well then we had a few mechanicals, broken chain, broken brake lever, two riders mia - decided riding with no front brake wouldn't be fun. im not sure if they told someone they were diverting route or what? but i never heard and spike and kip rode back to sweep and met us at the top of gashouse. no riders. ok were down to 7 after eric cut it short for maddie as she was worked from running all day in the woods. Well with charlies ahead and sandywash all that climbing is about to pay off! 7 ish miles of downhill fun. Just enough moisture in the trails to hold the tires a bit more and let her go just a bit more than normal. Felt good! Big difference from last weeks death march descent!
Hopefully a ride or two this weekend!
happy trails!
Prayers out to Scar (Jay) and his family!
